London Ashford Airport, locally known as Lydd Airport has been operational since the 1950’s. It is predominately used for private jets and cargo, serving flights from the South East to Europe. Continually expanding to serve the London and the local area, the airport is a long standing client of MPR IT, for support and on-going IT projects.
The airport had a need to implement a point to point wireless network covering the full airport across the main terminal building, air traffic control tower and outer reaches of the airport to a local building they also own and operate from. Secure in the knowledge that they could trust MPR IT, we were approached to implement the wireless network.
Speed on this instance wasn’t a high concern, but cost was. Having been using VPNs for a long time, the on-going cost of telephone lines, routers and internet connections added up. The ability to share the main incoming leased line connection was an added benefit to all sites connected.
